Having been at the forefront of Spain’s experimental music scene since the late 1970s, multi-instrumentalist Suso Sáiz formed the pivotal group Orquesta de las Nubes and studio project Música Esporádica, releasing a string of albums on Madrid’s now cult label Grabaciones Accidentales, which was also home to groups such as Finis Africae, Mecánica Popular, and Ishinohana. A prolific producer, he has recorded with Spain’s most singular popular musicians as well as with a number of luminary electronic and world music artists such as Steve Roach, Jorge Reyes, and Salif Keita.

Suso Saiz deepens his relationship with Music From Memory with the release of a new album, Nothing Is Objective. This joins 2017’s Rainworks as his second full-length album for the label, following archival collections of solo music and of his group Orquesta De Las Nubes.

Nothing Is Objective was recorded in Madrid in 2018 during a period of transcendental change and creative awakening for Suso. It captures the composer as he develops a renewed relationship with his instruments and craft, channeling a dialogue between the meticulous use of technology andthe outer reaches of human expression. Suso’s universe is one that remains in constant mutation and emphasizes time above all else. His radiant drones are a nest of hidden feelings; they glisten with complex emotions and textures, teasing out moods of vulnerability and hope. Nothing Is Objective is a delicate and intimate record that harnesses smalls drops of sentiment for listeners to withdraw into.


Don’t DJ

The DJ-producer Don’t DJ, former member of «Institut für Feinmotorik» and «The Durian Brothers» is interested in what he calls «musique acéphale« – a metric which has no distinct starting nor ending point and thus encourages the listener to constantly switch his* or her* metric focus to discover different «points of listening» within the same arrangement. These Euclidian polymetric soundlayerings or minimalist-gamelanian-kraut-tekks seek to inspire consciousness to wander beyond culturally suggested boundaries of the perception of reality. Don’t DJ recently released on Berceuse Heroique, Emotional Response, Fullfridge amongst others and co-runs the Labels Sexes and Disk Records.
