T r a n c e
Putting yourself in trance through music as a form of healing, meditation, concentration and ecstasy, has nowadays become a decreasing idea people have in mind when they come to concerts, parties and other musical events.
Trance as a word, is for most people more connected to Psytrance, Esoteric and Hippie culture then to the actual state of mind and of the body. From its original meaning originating from the ancient indigenous people around the world, which used trancestates through music and dance, to reflect, think, heal and connect with the gods, it now became an almost not really seriously taken myth.
With “T r a n c e", we want to bring back the attention to these enriching ideologies and show how there is not much needed, other than music, to reach another state of mind. We want to push and sharpen the deep listening experience and to bring up the sensation of actually feeling what music does to you.
The programmation of the T r a n c e nights will be a combination of various national and international bands, solo musicians and djs that follow a specific idea of music - a new wave of dance and listening music originating from Tribal, Folkloric, Psychedelic Rock, Minimalism, Ambient as well as Drone and various repetitive electronic musics.
This aims to be a long term project that will explore the diverse and rich scene of this music, creating a constructive platform for likeminded people and enthusiasts.
About the artists:
Ziguri is a hypnotic line through the history of the psych-rock from Kreuzberg. Formed in 1987, the project is a collaboration between Udo Erdenrech, Dieter Kölsch and the one and only Günther Schickert . This marvelous trio calling their own music trance-rock represents for us a very suitable en t r a n c e into the spirit of this event series. The jerky and linear rhythm of the drum pushes gently your body in action and simultaneously highlights skillfully the poetry of the Echodrive guitar. The spherical elements and the cascades of voices bring the t r a n s c endence – body over mind, mind over body.
Key figure of the band, Günther Schickert was surely one of the earlier people in Germany exploring the world of minimalistic guitar and drum based trance-music. His 1974 released album “Samtvogel” is pure expression of how music can deliver this special state of mind. Being an active and innovative member within the scene of West-Berlin during the 70’s and beginning of the 80’, he was teaming up with other personalities of this period, such as Klaus Schulze. Both pioneer and icon on this thematic, we can only express the joy that we have to invite him to play at Arkaoda and share this experience with you.

Tav Exotic (Live - BXL) is a duo made of Michael “Weir Dust” Crabbé and Ernesto “ Bear Bones, Lay Low Gonzalez. Together, they offer a fully analog adventure to the very edge of the brain. The heavy pulses powered by the both shamans are already a story on there one – the stormy ensemble accompanying the whole allows the listener to escape a bit further away from his earthly body. Their music can as well be understood as a psychotropic experience, during which the listening session becomes an meditative moment.

Ondula (Dj set - BER) delivers through her musical approach an unorthodox way to reach the emotions behind the shell. Based in Berlin since a decade, Ondula was always and is still purchasing the singularity of any sonic experimentations – behind a desk with her library of musical rarities, with her partner on stage under the name of As Longitude. The emphasis on the right wave of frequencies and on the dreamy groove can be understood as a statement towards the listening experiment.
